·        The Social-Economic Academy is a center of education, accessible to every person in Israel (low tuition) who is interested in gaining academic knowledge in issues that concern critical social theories and alternatives to prevalent social-economic policy in Israel.

·        The Academy has five branches, 1,500 students of diverse background, over 250 lecturers and dozens of volunteers.

·        The board conducts all the strategic planning regarding the academy, including fund raising, employing workers, opening new branches, and public relations.

 

8/2003-8/2006             Director, < xml="true" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" prefix="st1" namespace="">Human Rights Division, Academic College of Law

·        In charge of a staff of eight lawyers and 90 students who provided pro bono legal assistance to about 6000 clients a year, most of them poor.

·        Conducted a campaign against the full-privatization of prisons in Israel. Filed the only petition in the western world claiming that a full privatization of a prison is unconstitutional. The petition is still pending in front of a 9 judges' bench in the Israeli Supreme Court. See more in Haaretz (1/9/06). See a short essay by me.

·        Promoted Human Rights issues through the Israeli media.

·        Lectured low wage workers rights, 'regulations'/Omnibus law, human rights and privatization to clinical students.

·        Litigation in courts and parliamentary committees.

 

10/2000-2/2003           Internship, Ehud Shilony Law Offices

·       The law office was retained by the Histadrut, the General Federation of Labor in Israel and by Kav La'Oved (worker's hotline), a non-governmental organization that advances low-wage worker's rights, Palestinians and contract workers.

·        Conducting research and appearing in labor courts.

 

9/2000-5/2001             Research Assistant – The Open University of Israel

·        Worked under the supervision of Dr. Yossi Dahann.

·        Participated in writing articles regarding migrant and contract workers in Israel.

 

 2/2001-2/2003             Founder and Manager, Solidarity Student Organization

·        A volunteer job. An elected position.

·        The organization fought to change the status of the cleaning personnel at Tel-Aviv University (TAU) from contract workers to university workers.

·        After two years, the General Manager of TAU agreed to run a pilot of direct hiring of the contract workers in some of its departments.

·        A volunteer job. An elected position.

·        The organization's purpose was to increase student involvement in social activism. Among other activities, I founded and managed a free legal aid center within Tel-Aviv Labor Court, involving 50 students and six lawyers who specialize in labor law.

·        In December 2000, The Buchmann Faculty of Law awarded me a special certificate of merit for my involvement in this project.

·        Served as a Company Commander ranked Captain.

·        Managed more than a hundred soldiers, commanders, officers and staff.

·        Among other duties, I served as the commander of the Netzarim sector, in the Gaza district, one of the most complex sectors in Israel, at that time.
